Levi and Lance

Lance\\\'s time trial bike

We took the YM to see the stage 7 of the Tour of California. We were about 300 yard from the finish line and got to see the whole field do 5 laps around the Rose Bowl in Pasadena (after they rode ~80 miles over a 5000 ft mountain). Most of the top riders were there: Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, Floyd Landis, David Zabriskie, Tyler Hamilton, etc. It was amazing to see. They were going 35-40 MPH, shoulder to shoulder, inches apart. On the final lap, the three contenders for the stage win shot right toward us (weaving side to side) and were literally inches away as they finished. The YM weren’t that impressed (short attention spans?).

Pasadena Finish Line

Boatmans stopped by for a couple days on their way back from their spring break trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We took the older boys biking on the wilderness trail. Maria did a cool makeover on Grace’s room.

Masked man

I took Gavin and Grace to Phantom at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood last night. Great show!! We were on the 1oth row, dead center, so we had to duck when the chandelier was swinging around. We could feel the heat when they did the flash effects. The Phantom was John Cudia, who played the Phantom AND Jean Valjean (Les Mis) on Broadway. Amazing voice, got a standing O at the end. Gavin and Grace loved it.

Shannon and I headed south to Puerto Vallarta for 5 lovely days. Shannon’s parents have a timeshare there for ~5 weeks this time of year, so we were able to stay with them right on the beach. First time there for me…really liked it. It’s got mountains, beach, cool old town, great food, etc. I went fishing and caught 7 Bonita and 1 Jack. Also got a good look at couple humpback whales splashing around. Dolphins, too. Big bonus: it’s only a 2 1/2 hour flight! We taught Bob & Lois how to play Ticket To Ride and were able to play daily.
