07 Tahoe

The Expo is getting tired, so we upgraded to an 07 Tahoe over the weekend. It’s got the most amazing, throaty rumble out of the tailpipe and a sunroof.

Anyone looking for a good deal on a 98 Expedition?

Lake Mead

Rufus Cove Lake Mead

Sunset ride

Went houseboating on Lake Mead last Thur, Fri, Sat with group of young men from church. Friday the water was AMAZING…glass smooth for all but a couple hours when there were some ripples. The air temp was 113, water temp 89, but we stayed comfortable by jumping in the water and chillin’ in the houseboat with central air. Friday night some big wind gusts blew the houseboat off our anchors, but we were able to reattach to shore and make it thru the night. One of the YM left for BYU the next day, another is leaving for Y’daho this week.

I hadn’t heard great things about Mead, so I was pleasantly surprise: interesting scenery, not crowded, smooth water and convenient facilities. We got to Callville Bay right after a houseboat with kids on it exploded. 5 people were injured, but no fatalities.

Feeling better

We finally checked out the trails up Icehouse Canyon which is ~8 miles up the mountain from our house. It’s beautiful, green and 20 degrees cooler than the valley below.

All 3 car batteries have died in the past month: the Malibu replaced under warranty, the Expo’s was replaced, free of charge, by Costco, The van was the only battery we had to pay for!

This global crisis has made my job STRESSFUL for the last couple months!! Should be past the worst of it in a couple weeks. Luckily, we are vertically integrated and control the pipeline to a greater extent than our competitors. Tomorrow is my first day off in 26 days!!

Tatsu

Filed under: General — Rick @ 8:05 pm

So we were feeling sorry for Dylan…broken arm and all. Lots of summer activities he can’t do: beach, biking, motorcycle, etc. I decided to take him and Gavin to Magic Mountain to break up the monotony (video games, discovery channel, repeat). We drove an hour then we waited in 100 degree heat for an hour to ride Tatsu, one of the most extreme roller coasters in the world. We made it to the “30 minutes from here” sign when a worker told Dylan he couldn’t go on it with a cast!

Todays daddy daughter date was much less traumatic: Chinese food and bowling.

Dodger night

Filed under: General — Rick @ 11:35 pm

I took the boys to Mormon night at dodger stadium tonight. We were 3rows off center field in the all you can eat pavillion. Fun game, exciting finish…3 run homer to win at the bottom of the 9th. M Russell Ballard threw the first pitch. Didn’t see it, but heard it was a strike. We made it home in 35 minutes!

Where’s the Beef?

I can’t say we weren’t warned, but our large breed dog ate my large steak off the counter last night before I got a shot at it. Luckily we had Famous Dave’s BBQ for lunch at work, so I was set for protein for the day.
